Advertisement: Graduate Researcher in information, knowledge & communication trends 

Do you want to start your career with the opportunity to influence the direction of the information, knowledge and communication profession?

Buoyit (www.buoyit.org), a North-West European think-tank, explores cutting-edge themes within the information, knowledge and communication profession. Buoyit aims at influencing the information, knowledge and communication sector by providing scenarios - or buoys - about what the future might look like.

Within the scope of this objective, Buoyit is seeking a graduate researcher. As graduate researcher, you will get the opportunity to close the gap between today’s reality of ever-changing situations and the role of the professionals by exploring the 10 most important trends within the information, knowledge and communication sector. Furthermore, you will be analysing how the governmental organisations in Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom are applying these trends.

The goal of this study is to develop scenarios how governmental organisations should move forward within information, knowledge and communication trends. The work consists of two parts. It involves:

  1. conducting an extensive literature review among and/or interview with international experts in order to list the 5-10 trends, and; 
  2. exploring the current situations of the governmental organisations in Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom how these organisations currently apply the trends, and recommending on the application of it.  

The study offers the opportunity to work in an international context. You will also be invited to maintain a research diary through which you can share your provisional observations to Buoyit’s international network of peers and colleagues.

Requirements

  • a BSc graduate in information, knowledge, communication, or a related discipline; 
  • the ability to establish productive contacts with international experts and representatives in the governmental industry, and; 
  • fluency in English is required for this position 

The work commences in February 2012 and is expected to take up 5 months. The work can be done in the country where the students attends University. Buoyit provides no office facilities.
